Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Bible Seek mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Services") provided by Bible Seek ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Please also review our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle information in connection with the Services and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

1. The Services

In Short: Bible Seek is a free, offline-first iOS application for reading and studying scripture.

Bible Seek is a Bible reader that runs entirely on your device. Features include verse highlighting, study notes, custom reading plans, memory-verse practice, and original-language word studies. We may add, change, or remove features at any time without prior notice.

2. License to use the Services

In Short: We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Services on Apple-branded devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. This license does not allow you to use the Services on any device you do not own or control, and you may not distribute or make the Services available over a network where they could be used by multiple devices at the same time.

3. Apple App Store terms

In Short: Apple's standard app license also applies, and Apple is not responsible for the Services.

These Terms are between you and us. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Services or their content. To the extent there is any conflict between these Terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, Apple's terms govern only with respect to the matters they address. You acknowledge that:

• Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the Services.
• In the event of any failure of the Services to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the Services to you.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the Services or your use of them.
• Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance of these Terms, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you.

4. Acceptable use

In Short: Use the Services for their intended purpose; don't interfere with, copy, or attack them.

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code of the Services, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.
• Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the Services.
• Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices (including copyright notices) on or in the Services.
• Use the Services to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Services or any related infrastructure.
• Use any automated means (such as bots or scrapers) to access the Services in a manner that sends more requests than a human could reasonably produce.

5. Your content

In Short: Notes, highlights, and other content you create stay on your device. We don't claim ownership of them.

Anything you create within the Services — highlights, notes, bookmarks, reading position, custom reading plans, memory verses, and tags — is yours. As described in our Privacy Policy, this content is stored locally on your device using Apple's standard on-device storage and is not uploaded to any server we operate.

6. Intellectual property

In Short: We own the app, its design, and its branding.

The Services, including their software, design, text, graphics, and the Bible Seek name and logo, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license granted in Section 2, no rights are transferred to you under these Terms.

Scripture text, lexicon entries, cross-references, and topical indexes shipped with the Services are used under the licenses of their respective rights holders. Where required, attribution appears within the Services.

7. Updates and discontinuation

In Short: We may update or discontinue the Services at any time.

We may release updates to the Services that fix bugs, add features, or change behavior. We may also discontinue the Services or any portion of them at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Services.

8. Termination

In Short: You can stop using the Services at any time by deleting the app. We can revoke your license if you violate these Terms.

These Terms remain in effect while you use the Services. You may terminate them at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your right to use the Services at any time, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing-law provisions — will survive.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

In Short: The Services are provided "as is," with no warranties.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the Services will be error-free, secure, or always available, or that defects will be corrected.

10. Limitation of liability

In Short: To the extent the law allows, our liability for anything related to the Services is limited.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim or (b) twenty United States dollars ($20).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Services or your violation of these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State in which we reside, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that State, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under the consumer protection laws of your place of residence.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we may notify you by prominently posting a notice within the Services or on our website. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
